Sometimes fans throw sand at you

Ghanaian songstress Sista Afia has shed light on the challenges performers face on stage, revealing that she’s been a victim of unruly audience behavior during live shows.

The “Jeje” hitmaker recounted moments early in her career when audiences turned aggressive mid-performance.

“Sometimes, you never know the crowd you’re going to meet. Somebody will throw water at you, others even mix sand in bottles and toss it. It has happened to me before,” she revealed on Hitz FM monitored by MyNewsGh.

She explained that while some performers may react emotionally, she chooses to stay calm.

“My fans are cool, and I always pray to meet good, sensible crowds,” she said, emphasizing that even female artists are not spared from such hostility.

Sista Afia urged empathy for musicians who face provocation during performances.

She cited the recent incident involving rapper King Paluta, who she said was “verbally abused” during a UK performance before reacting in frustration.

“He kept performing professionally despite the insults. But sometimes, when someone gets close and starts attacking you, you can only take so much. He’s human,” she noted.
