Sprinter bus driver nabbed with suspected narcotics concealed in maize

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man for unlawful possession of suspected narcotic drugs following an intelligence-led operation in the Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Saigoe, was apprehended on June 17, 2025, at Nkurakan while driving a Sprinter Benz bus with registration number AS 1933-21.
According to a statement issued by the Police on June 19, 2025, a search of the vehicle uncovered five sacks of maize, within which were hidden seventy-eight oval-shaped, sellotaped balls of dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp.
The concealed narcotics were discovered during a routine search as part of ongoing efforts by the Police to clamp down on drug trafficking across the country.
Saigoe is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court soon.
