Stan Dogbe warns media against harassing mourners at state funeral

Deputy Chief of Staff, Stan Dogbe, has urged the media and the public to conduct themselves with dignity during the state funeral for the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrufuom.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, August 14, Mr. Dogbe cautioned against harassing mourners for interviews or obstructing the solemn proceedings.
“We do not want to see tomorrow anybody holding a phone or a monopod and struggling to chase people, chase mourners as they are coming in to sit,” he said, stressing that decorum must be maintained throughout the ceremony.
The funeral, scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, will honour the eight public officials who lost their lives in the crash.
Conducted with full military honours by the Ghana Armed Forces, the ceremony will bring together state officials, families, and members of the public in a national moment of remembrance.
According to Mr. Dogbe, the programme will open with Bible and Qur’an recitals before the main service and burial.
Proceedings will start at 7:30 a.m., with the Vice President arriving at 8:50 a.m. and President John Dramani Mahama at 9:00 a.m. to lead the state service.
The three-hour event will feature tributes and biographies for all the victims, delivered by family members, government officials, and institutional representatives.
