“Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption in Ghana”-NCCE Kintampo South.

The Kintampo South directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in partnership with GIZ and financial support from European Union has held civic engagement with the leaders and representatives of the various Youth Groups under the theme: “Strengthening the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption in Ghana” on 28th August, 2025 at the conference Hall of World Vision-Ghana, Jema.

The cardinal objective of the project was to empower the Youth to use Right Based Approach to raise their voices on Corruption and demand accountability from people entrusted with power and resources for accelerated and sustainable development of Ghana.

The District Director of NCCE, Mr. Isaac Osei Agyemang as a key facilitator focused his presentation on Introduction/Definition of Corruption, How Corruption manifests, Causes and Effects of Corruption, Legal framework, Anti-Corruption Institutions and winded up on Strategies/Approaches for the fight against Corruption.
Mr.Agyemang again, laid much emphasis on mechanisms for reporting corrupt cases to the appropriate institutions and assured the participants of their protection under the Law, especially, the Whistleblower’s Act 2006, (Act 720).

The District Director of CHRAJ, Mr. Emmanuel Konne also took the floor and extensively discussed the Anti-Corruption mandate of the Commission and among the issues highlighted were;
➢ Investigation on allegations of Corruption
➢ Public sensitization on Corruption and elicit public support to combat corruption.
➢ Investigation on complaints of victimization of Whistleblowers
He then urged and encouraged participants to come forward boldly to report all corruption related cases to CHRAJ to intensify our collective efforts in combating corruption in Ghana.

Finally, the representative of the District Police Commander Sgt. Francis Soglo took the participants through the process of bailing people who are in conflict with the Law and asked them to desist from paying bribes or inducing Police Officers to take before accused persons are bailed from Police custody.

The Civic Engagement with Youth generated a lot of discussions among the participants on all the subject-matters discussed and at the tail-end of the engagement, the participants resolved to contribute their quota in the fight against Corruption.
