Supreme Court affirms King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s as the true Ga Mantse

Ghana’s Apex Court has affirmed King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s as the rightful Ga Matse.
In a ruling delivered on July 23, 2025, the Supreme Court quashed the Court of Appeal’s June 12, 2024, ruling that ordered the restoration of Nii Adama Latse II as the Ga Mantse.
The court’s ruling followed an application for Certiorari filed by lawyers of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who challenged the Court of Appeal’s decision and same was opposed by the lawyers of Nii Adama Latse II.
The court, presided over by Justice Gabriel Pwamang, ruled that the Court of Appeal’s decision was made in violation of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s right to natural justice.
The Supreme Court set aside an earlier ruling by a High Court in the Ashanti Region, ruling and also avoids further legal battles.
Prior to today’s ruling, the Appeals Court had ruled that Nii Adama Latse II’s removal from the national register of chiefs was unlawful, as there was no evidence of his valid destoolment.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II who was in court was in the company of a heavy entourage who were spotted jubilating at the premises of the court.
The other panel members are Justice Ernest Gaewu, Justice Richard Adjei Frimpong, Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh and Justice Philip Bright Mesnah.
