Ghanaian highlife musician Lucky Mensah has passionately called for Daddy Lumba to be included in Ghana’s educational curriculum—from basic school through to the university level.
Speaking during the drive time show on Asona FM monitored by MyNewsGh, hosted by Super Soul Sister, Lucky Mensah described Lumba as a “musical philosopher whose works deserve academic study.”
“Lumba’s style, message, and persona have shaped the careers of many of us. He’s not just a musician—he’s a whole institution,” Lucky Mensah stated.
The singer, known for his socially conscious lyrics, didn’t hold back on his admiration for the late highlife legend. He credited Lumba as the major influence behind his decision to pursue music professionally.
“As much as I worked on my own talent, it was Lumba who gave me the push. He inspired me, just like he inspired Paa Solo and many others from our generation,” he added.
Lucky Mensah emphasized that Lumba’s legacy transcends entertainment, citing his lyrical depth and ability to connect with the soul of the Ghanaian people.
“His songs carry meaning and wisdom. I believe schools should start teaching his works from the basic level—not just at the university,” he proposed.
While acknowledging his own success, Lucky made it clear that Daddy Lumba’s impact is unmatched.
“No one can match Lumba’s legacy. His music will live on long after all of us are gone,” he declared.
