Tema to receive 3,000 new LED streetlights – Mayor Ebi Bright

Tema Mayor Ebi Bright has announced that 3,000 LED streetlights will soon be installed across the city to boost visibility and improve security for residents.
Addressing the 20th Grand Durbar and Homecoming celebration of the St. John Methodist Church at Tema Manhean, she explained that the new all-inclusive streetlight units are designed to prevent theft and tampering, a problem previously linked to drug abuse in the community.
“The planned installation of LED streetlights will not only brighten our streets but also strengthen security. We are avoiding the type that allows people to remove elements from them,” she said.
Ebi Bright also outlined broader government plans to transform the constituency through youth employment and skill development initiatives.
She stressed that empowering young people with employable skills, while addressing drug and substance abuse, would be central to shaping a safer and more productive community.
