‘Thank You Tour’ with aspirants was a mistake – Dr. Ayew Afriyie

Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore, has expressed strong reservations about the decision to include other New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirants in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ‘Thank You Tour,’ describing the move as unnecessary and potentially problematic.

“Me in person, I have been against thank you tour where you put aspirants together. I totally disagree,” he stated during an interview on Wontumi TV with Oheneba.

Dr. Afriyie explained that although he shares a cordial relationship with fellow aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, he does not support him politically.

“I am good friends with Ken but he knows I don’t support him. I won’t insult him and he even finds it comfortable to engage me when there is a problem,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasized that the spotlight of the tour should have been solely on Dr. Bawumia, the one who led the party into the election.

“There was no need to put them together. It was Bawumia who led us into an election so he must be on tour thanking the people,” he said, adding, “I personally, I was not for it.”
