Thanksgiving Service held for Omane Boamah and Anala

A thanksgiving service was held on Sunday, August 17, at Christ the King Catholic Parish in Accra to honour the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash.

The tragic accident, which claimed eight lives—including senior government and military officials—occurred en route to an anti-illegal mining mission in Obuasi.

At the service, family, friends, and government officials described the two men as patriots of integrity who devoted their lives to national service and peace-building.

The thanksgiving followed a state funeral at Black Star Square on August 15 and burial at the Military Cemetery in Tse Addo.

President John Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and several ministers were among those present to pay their respects.
