The greatest Ghanaian feminist has passed – Barker-Vormawor on Nana Konadu’s death

Social activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor has paid tribute to the late Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, describing her as “the greatest Ghanaian feminist” following news of her passing.
In a post shared on social media, he wrote:
“The Greatest Ghanaian Feminist has passed!
Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings opened a door; and set a standard that no First Lady has ever met.
She was the Revolution! She made modern Ghana in the way Nkrumah birthed Ghana.
If Nkrumah was Ghana’s Father. Only Konadu is fit to be mother!
She will be terribly missed!”
Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, born on November 17, 1948, was Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady and wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
A bold advocate for women’s rights, she founded the 31st December Women’s Movement in 1982, empowering women through education and entrepreneurship.
In 2016, she became the first woman to contest Ghana’s presidency on the ticket of the National Democratic Party (NDP).
