The hostility among EC commissioners was undeniable

Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has highlighted past internal conflicts within the Electoral Commission (EC), pointing to frosty relations and open hostility among senior officials long before petitions for removal were filed.
he referenced events that occurred during a committee of the whole meeting in Parliament, where former Chairperson Charlotte Osei and her deputies appeared while speaking on Good Evening Ghana hosted by Paul Adom-Otchere.
According to him, the atmosphere during that session was tense. “There was a very frosty relationship displayed among the EC reps who came to Parliament,” he said in the interview monitored by MyNewsGh.
He added that beyond the parliamentary encounter, a leaked tape later confirmed the broken relationship. “The relationship between the deputies had broken down beyond reconciliation,” he noted.
Hon. Baffour Awuah questioned the motives behind the petitions submitted by the former deputies, suggesting that their actions may have been influenced by personal grievances.
“We should find out what had happened before they sent the petition. What attempts had been made to remove them prior to that?” he asked.
According to him, the public ought to examine the background of such petitions carefully instead of assuming they were purely based on competence issues.
He stressed that institutional disagreements should not automatically translate into demands for forced removal of officeholders.
