The Minority politicizes every arrest – Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt has criticized the opposition Minority in Parliament for what he describes as their tendency to politicize every arrest and legal issue, warning that such actions could erode public trust in national institutions.

The veteran journalist expressed concern over how the Minority has reacted to recent arrests, particularly in cases involving allegations of corruption and misconduct.

“The posture of the Minority in Parliament is to politicize every arrest, politicize every issue, and that’s the impression we are getting in the public,” he remarked on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH.

Pratt referenced the case of a former Bank of Ghana governor, highlighting claims made by the Minority regarding the alleged seizure of official vehicles.

He questioned the credibility of these assertions, stating, “What were official vehicles doing in a former governor’s house? If those vehicles had been sold to him, they cease to be official vehicles.”

The journalist also responded to Attorney General Godfred Dame’s warning that he could release a recorded conversation between the former governor and the government if the Minority persisted with their stance.

“I don’t know what’s on that recording, but from the way the Attorney General speaks, it appears that it may embarrass the governor. Is the Minority willing to push this to the extent that it becomes an embarrassment?” he questioned.

While emphasizing that accused persons deserve fair treatment, Pratt insisted that the Minority must be responsible in their commentary.

“We all have a responsibility to insist that the rights of accused persons are not violated. But the extent that the Minority goes sometimes… Jesus Christ of Nazareth!” he exclaimed.
