Old Tafo MP, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has taken to social media to mock a viral video showing the Blue Water Guard allegedly chasing an illegal miner.
Reposting the clip, Assafuah commented:
“Backwards Ever, Forward Never. Such a joke. The river is rather swimming them. The setting is too much and GBC had to waste our time to post this as a chase?
“The same GBC published that FIFA had directed the GFA to amend the GFA Statute of 2019 to be in consonance with the FIFA statute, which was totally false.”
The Blue Water Guard is a government-led initiative tasked with protecting Ghana’s water bodies from illegal activities such as unauthorized fishing and sand mining.
Their operations often involve surveillance and enforcement actions to curb environmental degradation.
However, the video reposted by Assafuah appears to show the guards struggling to intercept an illegal miner, prompting criticism and ridicule online.
