Muntaka inaugurates new Gaming Commission Board, charges members to reform sector

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has officially sworn in an 11-member Governing Board for the Gaming Commission of Ghana, with a bold call for sweeping reforms in the gaming industry.

The new board, chaired by James Enu, Member of Parliament for Tema West, is expected to bring fresh energy and direction to a sector that continues to evolve rapidly—and face mounting scrutiny.
Their mandate? Drive regulatory reforms, clamp down on underage gambling, flush out illegal operators, and align Ghana’s gaming ecosystem with international standards.
Hon. Muntaka, during the inauguration, urged the board to prioritize responsible gaming practices and position the Commission as a model regulatory body in the sub-region.

With the industry growing both in reach and influence, the board’s work is cut out—but so is its potential to make a lasting impact.
