They did not inherit a bad economy, they inherited growth – NPP’s Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah has defended the economic record of the New Patriotic Party, arguing that the current administration inherited a stable and recovering economy.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana monitored by MyNewsGh, he refuted claims by the NDC that the economy was in poor condition, noting that growth in 2024 reached 5.7% and that international bodies like the IMF and World Bank confirmed a recovery.

He contrasted the current NDC administration’s performance with the NPP’s past record, highlighting sectoral growth and job creation efforts.

“If they are slow in building the economy, that is their responsibility.

“They cannot blame the opposition,” Ahiagbah said. He also noted that initiatives like the 24-hour economy and Feed Ghana remain largely unimplemented, which he described as a failure to deliver on campaign promises.

According to Ahiagbah, the real challenge lies in political will and prompt execution.

He urged the current government to act decisively, stressing that inherited economic growth should serve as a platform for development rather than an excuse for inaction.
