Ghanaian media personality and women’s advocacy voice, Oheneni Adazoa, has publicly announced her decision to withdraw from partisan politics, citing neglect and disappointment after the 2024 general elections.
In an interview with Akoto Mansa on Asetena Pa, Oheneni—known for her work as a broadcaster and her advocacy for women struggling with infertility—did not mince words about her disillusionment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a political group she once passionately supported.
“They have used me,” she said. “During this Christmas, none of them gave me anything. Miracle Aboagye and the rest didn’t mind me during the festive season. I have stopped politics. From today onwards, I will only speak to issues like I used to. I have been used by this political party.”
Oheneni, who campaigned extensively for the NPP in the run-up to the 2024 elections, revealed that despite her visible commitment, many within the party have failed to show appreciation or stay in touch.
The only exception, she noted, was Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who offered her a token of support.
“It was Opoku Prempeh who only gave me something during the Christmas but Miracle Aboagye and the rest didn’t reach out to me,” she lamented.
She made it clear that her frustration has reached a tipping point and vowed not to lend her voice or influence to future campaigns—particularly that of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, should he run for president in 2028.
“I won’t campaign for Mahamudu Bawumia if he becomes the party’s flagbearer,” she declared.
