This was in bad faith – Barker-Vormawor slams OSP over Gyampo message

Activist and lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor has expressed disappointment in the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) over its handling of a message sent by Professor Ransford Gyampo to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng during an investigation.
In a Facebook post, Barker-Vormawor revealed the full contents of the WhatsApp message Prof. Gyampo allegedly sent during a legal search at the premises of Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML), which is under investigation by the OSP.
The message read:“Your shut down of the SML Server would rather cause financial loss to the State as now there would be completely no monitoring. You can investigate them while allowing the monitoring devices to work. Think about this.”
Reacting to the OSP’s press statement, which implied that Gyampo attempted to interfere with the execution of a search warrant, Barker-Vormawor said, “I am disappointed that this is the message that caused the OSP to issue a press statement.”
He described the OSP’s reaction as one made in “bad faith” and aimed at tarnishing Gyampo’s image. “Let’s be circumspect in public office,” he urged, adding that public criticism should not justify personal attacks.
Barker-Vormawor emphasized that the Special Prosecutor’s office should approach such matters with maturity and restraint. “A less emotive approach is needed in such a sensitive office,” he stated, inviting the public to judge for themselves.
Meanwhile, Prof. Gyampo has clarified that his message was sent purely out of concern, not as an attempt to influence the investigation. “I only expressed the hope that your intentions are patriotic and not personal,” he noted, insisting the OSP’s insinuation was unfair.
