Three armed robbers jailed 20 years each for Fiankoma Highway attack

The Ghana Police Service has announced the conviction of three men found guilty of carrying out a violent robbery attack near Jacobu in the Ashanti Region.

In a post on Facebook, the Service said the Ashanti South Regional Police Command successfully prosecuted the suspects, Peter Boadi, also known as Kwao Ziggy, Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso, who were sentenced to 20 years in prison each by the Bekwai Circuit Court.

According to the statement, the ruling was delivered on October 27, 2025, by His Honour Mr. Appiatu, who found the three guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

Police detailed that on April 29, 2024, the convicts ambushed and robbed their victims at Fiankoma near Jacobu on the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta road.

“They attacked their victims with firearms and robbed them of two iPhones and GH₵7,000.00 cash,” the statement read.

The robbers went further to target a Chinese national during the incident, forcing him to transfer GH₵30,000.00 via mobile money to another person’s account.

“The suspects were arrested through intelligence-led operations conducted between June and September 2024,” the police said.

“A search at the residence of Peter Boadi at Obuasi Bogobiri led to the recovery of one foreign-made Bruna pistol, one locally manufactured pistol, and ammunition, all of which were secured as evidence.”

The Service commended the officers involved in the investigation, stating, “The Ghana Police Service commends the investigative team for their professionalism and reiterates its commitment to ensuring that criminals face the full rigour of the law.”
