Thunderstorms expected today in Accra, Tamale, and other parts of Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a 24-hour weather forecast warning of possible thunderstorms and rainfall in several parts of the country today, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

According to the forecast, mist or fog patches are expected to develop during the early morning in coastal, mountainous, and forested areas.

These conditions will give way to partly cloudy skies and sunny weather as the day progresses.

However, isolated thunderstorms or rain showers are likely over parts of the coastal, middle, transitional, and northern sectors.

Coastal cities such as Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast, and Takoradi are likely to experience morning mist or cloudy conditions, followed by a 30 to 60 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The temperature in these areas is expected to range between 24°C and 32°C.

In the middle and transitional zones—including areas like Koforidua, Goaso, Sunyani, Techiman, and Kintampo—morning mist is also expected, followed by sunny intervals and possible rain or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures here may reach up to 33°C.

The northern parts of Ghana, including Tamale, Yendi, Bolgatanga, Wa, and Bole, are forecast to see partly cloudy to sunny weather during the day, but with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms later in the day. Maximum temperatures could soar to 38°C in some northern cities.

GMet advises the public, especially residents in areas prone to heavy rains, to take necessary precautions to avoid flooding and related incidents.

The agency continues to monitor weather patterns and encourages citizens to stay updated through its official channels for any changes to the forecast
