Tiktoker sues former minister Nana Ama Dokua for GH¢20m over circulation of nude video

A Ghanaian brand influencer based in Germany, Tina Mensah, has filed a defamation suit at the Accra High Court, seeking GH¢20 million in damages over the alleged recording and circulation of her nude photos and videos online.
In her writ, Tina Mensah accuses one Abigail Kwarteng of unlawfully filming her naked and sharing the footage without her consent.
The incident, according to the plaintiff, occurred while she was visiting Kwarteng’s residence in Kumasi in February 2025.
Mensah claims that on February 18, 2025, while she was bathing, Kwarteng accused her of defrauding people under the pretext of securing visas to Germany.
Shocked by the accusation, Mensah alleges she rushed out of the bathroom unclothed, at which point Kwarteng secretly recorded her and subsequently forwarded the video to Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, a former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.
Asiamah-Adjei, described in the suit as Kwarteng’s foster mother, has been named as the second defendant in the case.
According to the plaintiff, the video and accompanying photos later surfaced on social media platforms, including TikTok and Facebook, resulting in widespread publication. Mensah contends that the two defendants acted maliciously by circulating the footage, thereby subjecting her to public ridicule and damaging her reputation.
She is therefore seeking a declaration from the court that the publication is defamatory, an award of aggravated and general damages, and an order compelling both defendants to issue an unqualified apology.
Mensah argues that the incident has had devastating consequences on both her personal and professional life.
She claims several companies have terminated their contracts with her, and future business opportunities have been jeopardised. Additionally, she alleges the scandal led to the breakdown of her engagement.
The matter has been reported to the Suntreso Police, where Kwarteng is said to have admitted to recording and sharing the video.
She was subsequently arraigned before the Kwaadaso Circuit Court and remanded to reappear at a later date.
The statement of claim further reveals that the police have also extended an invitation to the second defendant, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, as investigations continue.
