Toke Makinwa says daily bathing of babies is unnecessary

Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked conversation by challenging the long-held belief that babies must be bathed every day. Speaking on her personal approach to infant care, she explained that daily bathing is unnecessary and may even be harmful.

“I really think bathing babies actually causes problems. Babies are not dirty. They have been inside the womb for nine months. Inside the womb is not dirty,” she said.

Makinwa argued that parents often forget how delicate a newborn’s skin is. According to her, excessive bathing exposes babies to unnecessary moisture and disrupts their skin’s natural balance.

“I don’t bathe my baby every day because it is not necessary. Babies are not on the floor; they are not dirty or sweaty. So, why are you excessively putting water on their skin? Their skin is fragile,” she stated.

She suggested that parents consider simple alternatives instead of making daily baths a routine.

“You can wipe them instead of bathing them every day. This helped me, so I’m just putting it out there,” Makinwa added.
