Tory Lanez’s team speaks out after brutal prison attack leaves rapper hospitalized

Tory Lanez’s management has finally broken its silence following disturbing reports that the rapper was stabbed multiple times while serving time at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.
The Canadian rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently in the middle of a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion. But on May 12, 2025, a new chapter of violence unfolded—this time behind prison walls.
According to an official statement shared via Lanez’s Instagram account, the artist was viciously attacked and suffered 14 stab wounds: seven to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to his face. The attack was so severe that both of his lungs collapsed.
Despite the life-threatening injuries, Lanez has defied the odds. His team confirmed that he is now breathing on his own, talking, and maintaining a positive spirit.
The suspected attacker, 42-year-old Santino Casio, is a convicted murderer with a history of violent behavior within the prison system.
Authorities have since moved him to restricted housing as investigations by the prison’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office get underway.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, but the incident has stirred public concern over Lanez’s safety while incarcerated.
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony charges related to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting and began his sentence in 2023. He won’t be eligible for parole until 2029.
In the meantime, Lanez’s management has asked fans to keep the rapper in their thoughts as he recovers from what could have been a fatal ordeal.
