Traders who refuse to vacate pavements will be subjected to beatings -Kumasi Mayor

The Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has warned traders selling on the shoulders of the road of beating them if they refuse to leave after the two-week ultimatum given to them.

He says he is not one who believes in the policing system, so he would rather take the laws into his own hands.

The Kumasi Mayor intends to beat any trader who will defy the orders he has given for them to to vacate the various pavements in the capital.

To him, Kumasi is Otumfuo’s city and he will do everything within his means to ensure that its beauty is preserved, and that includes making stubborn traders feel the difficulty they are making him go through.

Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi who was addressing the press in Kumasi said “I have my own democratic military style which I will be implementing. When we say leave this space and you don’t leave this space, and I get there and you’re not lucky and my boys are with me, there and then we will beat you. In the middle of Adum, if I’m alone, you’re lucky, but if I’m there and my ten boys are in their pickup with me with their whips, trust me, we will beat you.

If you don’t want to experience that kind of situation, do that which is right and lawful. This is Otumfuo’s city. This is the Garden City of Africa. We have to preserve its image and I am here to work to satisfy the city for Otumfuo, and I want to ensure that this city looks like Otumfuo’s city. When we talk to you and we implore on you to adhere to that which we all do and we all have peace and you want to let the job become difficult for me, I will let your body feel the difficulty that you’re giving to me. So when it gets to that period don’t sit on your radio and attribute names to me,” he told the press in Kumasi.
