Trump says TikTok buyer will be revealed in two weeks

In a renewed twist to the long-running TikTok saga, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a buyer for the platform’s U.S. operations has been secured—and their identity will be revealed in roughly two weeks.

Speaking on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News, Trump disclosed that a “group of very wealthy people” is prepared to acquire TikTok from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

He hinted at international implications, stating, “I think I’ll need probably China approval, and I think President Xi will probably do it.”

The revelation comes as Trump pushes to keep TikTok alive in the U.S., but under American ownership.

Despite his previous threats to ban the app, the Trump now appears to be embracing its political value, particularly among younger voters—a group crucial in the upcoming election cycle.

The U.S. government has extended the deadline for ByteDance to divest its American operations multiple times, with the latest extension pushing the sell-off deadline to September 17, 2025.

Trump had previously given the company several ultimatums to either sell TikTok or face a nationwide ban on grounds of national security concerns.
