Comedian DKB is of the view that the Anti-Galamsey Demonstration scheduled for September 23 is of no relevance.
He believes that the organizers should take the word of the president, who says he’ll fix it, as gospel, because he has, over the years, proven that he is a man of his word.
“This is my message to those who want to organize the anti-galamsey demonstration. Listen, when JM, President Mahama, tells you he’s working on something, he is really working on it; he’s not like the others.
I remember the dumsor vigil; he said he was working on it, but we thought he was playing, so we went on a demonstration. In the end, who solved dumsor for us? This year, tell the truth, 9 months, not a single day of darkness. So if JM says he’s working on it, he’s working on it. He doesn’t do Jandam,” he stated.
He urged demonstrators not to panic because the president is a believer in free speech and will welcome demonstrators with open arms.
“If you want to go ahead with the demonstration, go on, but I trust him, and I know he’s fixing it,” he explained.
The pressure group, FixTheCountry movement, has announced plans to hold a two-day protest to demand urgent government action against illegal mining, widely known in Ghana as galamsey.
The protest will begin with a vigil at the Revolution Square on Sunday, 21 September, followed by a march on Monday, 22 September, which is a public holiday.
