Two arrested over Ablekuma North election violence

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent scenes that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun held on July 11, 2025.

This comes after Deputy National Organiser of the NPP, Chris Asamoah, and Minister Hawa Koomson were physically attacked at the St. Peter’s Society Polling Station in Odokor. Eyewitnesses say the assailants arrived in a pickup truck, overpowered police officers, and stormed the polling station.

The suspects — Musah Muntari, 46, and Ali Saeed alias Mboma, 43 — are currently assisting police with investigations.

According to a July 23 police statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, efforts are underway to bring all others involved to justice.

The public is being encouraged to cooperate and share any information by calling 18555 or 191.
