Continue praying – Agradaa’s final words to followers as she begins 15-year jail term

With calm steps and a composed face, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, exited the courtroom under heavy police escort, moments after being handed a 15-year prison sentence by the Circuit Court in Accra.
As she passed by quietly, her only words were directed at her loyal followers: “Continue praying.”
The former traditional priestess turned evangelist was convicted for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence, following her infamous 2022 money-doubling scam.
In a televised broadcast that aired widely, Agradaa promised to spiritually multiply cash for anyone who brought her money — a claim that lured many Ghanaians into parting with significant sums, only to receive nothing in return.
In court, it was revealed that Agradaa had capitalised on her large religious following and media access to perpetuate the fraudulent scheme, exploiting the desperation and trust of her audience.
The presiding judge described her actions as “deliberate, deceitful, and damaging,” noting that her conduct warranted a deterrent sentence.
Despite the public outrage and overwhelming evidence, Agradaa maintained a surprisingly calm demeanour throughout the proceedings.
A now-viral video shows her walking briskly from the courtroom, flanked by uniformed officers.
With no sign of resistance or emotion, she turned briefly toward a group of supporters and urged them to remain prayerful.
Agradaa’s case is being seen as a wake-up call for more stringent regulation of religious advertising.
