UK deports 43 to Ghana, Nigeria under ‘Plan for Change’

The United Kingdom has deported 43 individuals to Ghana and Nigeria as part of its intensified immigration efforts under the “Plan for Change” strategy.

The group included failed asylum seekers, former prisoners, and some who returned voluntarily.

This marks the second such operation since the current government took office, bringing total returns to Ghana and Nigeria to 87.

UK officials say the deportations reflect stronger partnerships with both countries to combat irregular migration.

“This flight demonstrates how international partnerships deliver on working people’s priorities for swift returns and secure borders,” said Angela Eagle, Minister for Border Security and Asylum.

The Home Office reports over 24,000 returns since the government came to power, with deportations of foreign offenders up by 16%.

Baroness Chapman of Darlington also highlighted the need for international cooperation, following a recent immigration crime summit involving over 40 nations.
