Passport office to operate 24 hours – Ablakwa

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated that the passport office will soon operate 24 hours under the 24-hour economy concept.
He says this forms part of efforts to ensure smooth access to passports.
The Minister revealed that 75,000 passports remain uncollected due to the constraints in accessing the office.
He says the Mahama administration is seeking to introduce a system that makes it easier to apply and obtain passports.
Speaking on the Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, February 8, Mr Ablakwa said “Will you believe me if I tell you that there are 75,000 passports that have not been collected at the passport office..,?
“We want a system where you can apply and have your passport delivered to you through the address that you provide. so that you don’t have to be doing all of these back and forth.”
He added “Then under the 24-hour economy concept, I want us, for the first time, to have the passport office operate 24 hours. that will be the first step toward the general operation of the 24-hour,” he said.
