Verified payments for contractor claims will begin soon, as Auditor General is set to submit interim audit report

The Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD, has disclosed that the Auditor General will soon present its audit reports on arrears of government.

He says payment of arrears will commence after the audit report has been made available to his office.

Cassiel Ato Forson made this known when he met with the Group CEO of Ecobank and his team.

He said “Government inherited over GH¢67 billion in arrears, which are currently undergoing a thorough audit. I am pleased to share that the Auditor-General is expected to submit the interim audit report soon. Upon receipt, verified payments will begin”.

Cassiel Ato Forson, PhD, made it known that the government does not want to accumulate any new arrears.

“We have allocated GH¢13 billion in the 2025 Budget to tackle this challenge, and we are determined not to accumulate new arrears.Through ongoing reforms and amendments to the Public Financial Management Act, we are restoring discipline and transparency in public procurement and contract management”.
