Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang takes three-week medical break

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has begun a three-week medical leave, effective April 7, 2025, following a recommendation from her doctors to focus on her recovery.
Sources from Jubilee House have confirmed the development.
The Vice President’s leave comes after recent health issues, which led her to seek treatment abroad after initial care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, speaking at a community event in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 6, 2025, reassured the public that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is making good progress and will soon return to her official duties.
Ablakwa also expressed gratitude for the well-wishes and prayers from Ghanaians both home and abroad, attributing much of her improvement to their support.
In addressing rumours surrounding her health, he condemned what he described as “unGhanaian propaganda” and called on the public to focus on the Vice President’s resilience, leadership, and inspiring role as a trailblazer for women and girls.
