Victims of 2024 electoral violence to be compensated—Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has given a strong indication that the government will compensate victims of the 2024 electoral violence with some compensation.

According to him, the Attorney General is working on a document to be presented to Cabinet for a decision to be taken on the compensation due to these victims of electoral violence.

The President made this known when he spoke at the Post-2024 Elections Evaluation Dialogue organised by the National Peace Council in Koforidua.

He said, “The Attorney General is working on a report to be presented to cabinet for adequate compensation to be paid to victims of those affected by the violence.”

The President used the opportunity to reiterate his calls for an expedited investigation so that the victims can get justice.

“The IGP, expedite investigations into these acts of electoral violence and bring the perpetrators to justice. The Attorney General is also working on a report to be presented to Cabinet for adequate compensation to be paid to victims and relatives of those affected by the violence,” the President stated.
