Vim Lady slams hypocrisy as Naana Jane seeks medical treatment abroad
Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has weighed in on reports that Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has sought medical treatment abroad.
Her reaction comes amid renewed conversations about Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa’s advocacy to prevent members of the executive, legislature, and judiciary from seeking healthcare outside the country.
Vim Lady did not shy away from pointing out the irony in the situation, given that Naana Jane belongs to the same party as Ablakwa, who has been a vocal critic of politicians traveling abroad for treatment.
“This is why I always say, we should be careful how we politicize everything. Today, it is Naana Jane; yesterday, it was Dr. Bawumia. Tomorrow, who knows who it will be?” she said.
She acknowledged that while Ghana must work toward improving its healthcare system, the reality is that it still lacks certain facilities needed for critical conditions.
“We can’t pretend that Ghanaian hospitals have all the necessary equipment. Even those in government know this, which is why they all travel abroad when the need arises,” she stated.
