Vinicius Jr buys a football club! Real Madrid star completes takeover of team

Vinicius Junior has completed the takeover of a second division Portuguese club as he follows in Real Madrid team-mate Kylian Mbappe’s footsteps.

A group of Spanish and Brazilian investors, including Real Madrid forward Vinicius, has completed the takeover of Liga Portugal 2 side Alverca as former owner Ricardo Vicintin sold his stake.

The new owners will be officially introduced in the next few weeks and current club CEO Matheus Ornelas will manage the club until the end of the season.

The Brazilian star becomes the second player in the current Real Madrid team to buy stakes in an European club. Last summer, Mbappe invested €20 million (£17m/$22m) to buy majority shares in French second-division side Caen.
