Violent clash at Dominase leaves civilian dead, police officers wounded

A police operation targeting suspected drug peddlers at Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region turned violent on Thursday, resulting in the death of a civilian and injuries to three police officers.

The operation, carried out by officers of the Ghana Police Service, was part of efforts to dismantle a suspected drug trafficking network in the area.

However, the team reportedly met fierce resistance from individuals believed to be involved in the illicit trade.

During the confrontation, a civilian — alleged to be connected to the peddlers — was fatally wounded. The identities of the deceased and the injured officers have not been disclosed.

Police sources confirm that three officers sustained various degrees of injury and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Although the Ghana Police Service is yet to release an official statement on the incident, local residents say the area has seen a heightened security presence since the raid.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible for the violence.
