Wa Circuit Court jails 19-year-old robber for 20 years with hard labour

The Wa Circuit Court has sentenced 19-year-old Adams Hamidu, also known as “Gyida”, to 20 years imprisonment with hard labour for robbery.
The conviction, secured by the Upper West Regional Police Command, was delivered on June 5, 2025, following a successful investigation and prosecution.
The case dates back to February 2025, when Gyida, along with an accomplice wearing a mask, robbed a victim of a blue Honda motorbike valued at GH¢20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GH¢1,300, and cash totalling GH¢10,800.
Following intelligence-led operations, police arrested Hamidu on June 1, 2025, at Domowa in the Wa West District.
In a statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command described the conviction as a reflection of its “unwavering commitment to protecting the community and upholding the law.”
The Command further assured the public of its continued efforts to combat crime and maintain the safety and security of all residents across the region.
