Watch the budget closely; they’ll go back to the market – Afigya Kwabre MP mocks gov’t

The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Hon. Collins Adomako-Mensah, has hinted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is likely to return to the international market to borrow following the upcoming mid-year budget review.

In an interview on Wontumi TV’s morning show, the MP claimed the Mahama-led administration has borrowing plans underway, which he described as part of a broader financial strategy.

“Ghanaians should take a keen interest in the budget when it is presented,” Hon. Adomako advised, stressing the importance of tracking government plans.

“That document will reveal where the country is heading under the NDC.”

According to him, the borrowing would not come as a surprise and urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and well-informed about the government’s fiscal direction.

“We’ve seen these things before,” he warned, “and we must prepare ourselves as citizens to hold the government accountable.”

His comments come at a time when the country is still digesting the spiritual and symbolic weight of the recently held National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on July 1, where President John Dramani Mahama appealed to national unity and divine guidance.

Standing before an audience of clergy and politicians at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, President Mahama declared:

“Today we have prayed, and I believe that God will heal our land… Indeed, He has already begun to heal our land, and we thank Him for His blessings.”
