NPP’s 2024 loss isn’t the end – Party Executive optimistic it will regain power

Henry Baker, a Polling Station chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Simpa, has expressed strong optimism about the party’s political future, despite the major defeat it recently suffered in the general elections. Speaking in an interview with Adwenpa FM, Baker maintained that the NPP is far from finished and will return to power in 2028.

He disclosed that residents of Simpa were disappointed by the NPP’s failure to secure a third consecutive term, laying blame at the feet of the party’s leadership for not properly steering the political agenda. According to him, the loss has sparked reflection and conversations within the grassroots of the party.

“After the significant defeat, people in Simpa held our leaders accountable. They believe the party could have been guided better to achieve a third term,” Baker revealed.

But despite the setback, he remains confident that the NPP will bounce back. “This is not the first time we’ve lost power. We lost before and came back. We will come back again in 2028,” he assured.

When asked about his political aspirations and whether he intends to continue as a polling station chairman, Baker boldly declared his intentions to take on a more strategic role within the party.

“I will continue to serve, but let me be honest—chairmanship is too small for me. I can even take on the role of coordinator,” he said, signalling his ambition to rise through the party ranks and contribute more significantly to its revival.
