We all have the right to speak – Adwoa Safo slams NPP General Secretary

Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has hit back at the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), questioning his authority to dictate who can speak about the party’s electoral loss.

In an interview on Joy Prime, Adwoa Safo asserted her right to express her opinions, especially since other party leaders have publicly shared theirs.

“We all have the right to express ourselves, and that includes me,” she said.

“The General Secretary began speaking publicly after we lost the election, going around explaining the situation. He even went as far as telling people not to blame him for the loss.”

She also referenced his recent radio comments, where he openly criticised former President Akufo-Addo, alleging that he ignored the party’s advice during cabinet meetings.

“And now, when it’s my turn to speak, a statement is being issued. What locus does he have to do that?” she questioned.

“He was on the radio himself, so if he wants to write a letter to me, he should do so privately. This statement is too vague, and I don’t think it’s something I need to respond to.”

Her remarks suggest a deepening rift within the NPP as party members continue to debate the causes of their electoral defeat.
