We are too wicked as a people — Saddick Adams slams Ghana military over recruitment practices

Radio personality and sports journalist Saddick Adams, popularly known as Sports Obama, has expressed outrage following reports that some people have died and others injured during military recruitment exercises held in Accra and Kumasi earlier today.
In a post shared on social media and sighted by MyNewsGh, Saddick Adams called for an immediate end to the sale of military recruitment forms, describing the practice as exploitative and insensitive, especially in a country battling high unemployment and economic hardship.
“After serious investigations into these unfortunate deaths, we have to come back to a more critical but scandalous practice that I raised on Monday,” he began.
“Why on earth is the Ghana Military selling forms at GHS 350 to persons wanting to serve in the army?”
The broadcaster highlighted that in previous recruitment cycles, the Armed Forces reportedly sold over 90,000 forms while offering only a limited number of slots.
“That means they made over GHS 31.5 million (approximately $3 million) from the sale of forms alone,” he stated.
Saddick Adams described the system as a deliberate scheme that preys on the desperation of the unemployed.
“Has it become an avenue to fleece the already vulnerable unemployed? We should be more concerned about the plight of our people instead of feeding on their desperation,” he lamented.
Calling the practice “wicked,” he urged authorities to scrap the sale of forms immediately and integrate such costs into the Armed Forces’ operational budget, extending the same call to other security agencies.
“The sale of forms should be scrapped with immediate effect. Such costs should be incorporated into the Armed Forces budget. Same for other security services.
“We are too wicked as people!” Saddick Adams wrote, clearly angered by what he views as a failure of compassion and governance.
