We cannot measure Cecilia Dapaah and Sammy Gyamfi by different standards – Dr. Kabiru Tia

Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, has called on the government to uphold consistency in its handling of public office conduct, stressing that the same standards used in the case of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah should be applied to Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom, Dr. Kabiru Tia referenced President John Mahama’s earlier decision to request Cecilia Dapaah’s resignation following a scandal involving large sums of money found in her home, urging that the precedent must guide similar situations.
“The president took a decision to ask Madam Cecilia Dapaah to resign from her post so if that has happened in the past and now we have a senior government official, someone who spoke vehemently against the conduct of Madam Cecilia Dapaah, someone who has been at the forefront of economic discipline and cedi loyalty and issues about governance, you will expect such a person if he is doing the same thing to also be measured by the same standard,” he said.
Dr. Kabiru Tia emphasized the importance of fairness and accountability, warning against selective application of disciplinary action based on political alignment.
“We cannot measure Cecilia Dapaah on one standard and we try to measure Mr Sammy Gyamfi on a different standard,” he added.
