We didn’t just pick Asomadu for nothing

Director of Operations for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, Jeff Konadu, has defended the party’s decision to field Solomon Kwame Asomadu as the parliamentary candidate for Akwatia, dismissing claims of imposition.
“We did not just pick Hon Solomon Kwame Asomadu for nothing. I was personally in town, visited many communities, and engaged with the people,” Konadu stated in an interview with MyNewsGh.
He stressed that the choice was not made in isolation. “We consulted polling station executives, electoral area coordinators — and all of them were of the view that primaries would not help our party,” he added.
To further ensure transparency and fairness, Konadu said a research team was tasked to assess community feedback and identify the most viable candidate from a shortlist.
“We have to always listen to the grassroots,” he emphasized. “The selection was based on careful consideration and collective agreement.”
With the NPP campaign in full swing, Konadu affirmed that Solomon Kwame Asomadu enjoys the full backing of the party’s leadership and grassroots structures.
