We feel safer here than in Ghana amid ongoing conflict

A Ghanaian citizen living in Israel has given a firsthand account of life in the war-torn country amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, offering reassurance that no Ghanaian nationals have been harmed so far.

Speaking to Onua TV, the unnamed individual shared that despite the heavy missile exchanges, all known Ghanaian residents in Israel remain safe. “There haven’t been any Ghanaian casualties,” he confirmed.

According to him, the Israeli authorities have established underground bomb shelters which residents, including foreigners, quickly access whenever sirens signal an incoming attack.

“The only victims,” he explained, “are usually those who don’t make it to the shelter on time or are caught sleeping when missiles are fired.”

Surprisingly, the Ghanaian said he and others are not eager to return home, despite the Ghanaian government’s offer of evacuation.

“We actually feel safer here than we would in Ghana,” he said candidly, highlighting his confidence in Israel’s emergency systems and infrastructure.

Using his phone, he recorded and shared footage of debris from a bomb that exploded near a neighboring building—evidence of how close the danger is, yet how prepared the people are.
