We fought so hard – NDC’s Aubynn on election success

Ewurabena Aubynn has said her victory in the hotly contested parliamentary rerun did not come as a surprise, attributing the outcome to months of hard work and dedication.

“A win was expected because we fought so hard,” the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North told the media following the Electoral Commission’s declaration of her as MP-elect.

Aubynn secured the seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after a tense rerun across 19 polling stations on Friday, July 11, 2025, flipping a constituency historically dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

While addressing questions about election-related disturbances on the day, she assured the public that law enforcement would deal with any issues appropriately.

“These are security issues and can be looked into and if there are people involved the police will take action,” she said.

Commenting on her campaign experience, Aubynn noted that she had not been paying attention to media coverage in the immediate aftermath of the election.

“I’ve been busy going around the polling station and have not been on social media or watched television,” she explained.

Looking ahead, Aubynn emphasized her readiness to serve her constituents and bring meaningful development to the area.

“…I’m sure we will work at it and see how best we can improve the constituency,” she added.
