We judge by facts, not friendship – Justice Dzamefe assures Appointments Committee

Supreme Court nominee, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, has assured Ghanaians that judicial decisions are never influenced by personal relationships, friendships, or affiliations, but are grounded solely in facts and evidence presented before the court.

Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, June 16, Justice Dzamefe firmly stated his stance on judicial impartiality while addressing concerns about perceived biases in the legal system.

“Mr. Chairman, as judges, we base our decisions on the evidence and the facts, not on friendship,” he emphasized.

“So if I follow someone, not for me, but for the association—I was talking to the association—and that person appeared, not necessarily for my cause, the decision will be based on the facts and the evidence, not because of an association.”
