We must choose our flagbearer early to heal and unite the party

Former Running Mate to Vice President Bawumia in the 2024 elections, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh—also known as Napo—has called for early selection of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer ahead of the 2028 elections to foster healing and unity.
Reflecting on internal strife within the party, he admitted:
“There was so much infighting. Some people who are not claiming to be flag bearers may have said things that didn’t go well for the party. And I hope it doesn’t happen again.”
Highlighting lessons learned, he emphasized the importance of avoiding repeat conflicts:
“That’s why the party has learned its lessons and decided to choose its flag bearer very early so that we can heal our wounds and forge on to make 2028 a better election.”
Dr. Prempeh addressed rumors about social media polls that appeared to show public support for his candidacy:
“It’s that you ran a poll on your Facebook… Did you see those comments? Yes, I’ve seen it.… I know I’m not on social media. So people go and read and hear. And they call me or they send it to me on WhatsApp.… But no, I don’t do polls.”
