We must put our differences aside – Nyarko Osei to NPP after Akwatia defeat

Following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the Akwatia by-election, Akim Swedru MP Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei has called on party members to put aside their internal differences and work together ahead of the 2028 general election.

In a statement shared shortly after the results were declared, Osei stressed that the party’s ability to regain power depends on unity rather than factionalism.

“We have a lot of work to do as a party and we must put all our differences aside and quickly come together between now and right after the presidential primaries,” he said.

According to him, whichever candidate emerges victorious in the NPP’s presidential primaries bears the responsibility of uniting all factions for the greater good of the party.

“Whoever wins the presidential primaries has the responsibility to ensure that he brings everyone together to prepare the party ahead of the 2028 General Election. We must do this deliberately together irrespective of whichever candidate we support,” he added.

Osei also cautioned that no single candidate or group of supporters can deliver victory without a broader, united front.

“No one candidate and its supporters alone can win us power in the next general election. It must be a collective responsibility,” the lawmaker noted.

The call for unity comes after the NPP’s Solomon Kwame Asumadu was defeated by the NDC’s Bernard Baidoo in Tuesday’s Akwatia by-election, a contest triggered by the passing of the late Ernest Kumi.
