We must reinvest in the ties that bind us – Bawumia urges NPP

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a passionate appeal to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reaffirm their commitment to unity and inclusiveness as the party undergoes a strategic restructuring process following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Annual Delegates Conference held in Accra on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Dr. Bawumia reminded delegates that the party’s greatest strength lies in its diverse roots and broad national appeal.

“In times like this, we should be focused on strengthening our bonds of unity and reinvesting in the ties that bind us. Our foundation and our strength has always been in building a united party,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the inclusive nature of the NPP over the years, noting that the party’s tent has always been wide enough to accommodate all people, regardless of ethnicity, religion, economic status, or educational background.

“We have been the party that has over the years offered hope to the largest diversity of our peoples,” he stated.

“Under our tent it has not mattered where you come from—whether you are a Sefwi, Fante, Ewe, Ashanti, Ga-Dangbe, Krobo, Dagomba, Wala, Dagaati, Konkomba, Frafra or Mamprusi.

It has not mattered what religion you practice—whether you are a Christian, Muslim or a traditional African religious practitioner.

It has not mattered whether you are rich or poor or whether you are formally educated or not.
