We shall get back – Nkansah urges calm after NPP’s loss in Akwatia

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has encouraged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to be discouraged by the party’s loss in the just-ended Akwatia by-election.

In a post shared shortly after the Electoral Commission announced the certified results, Nkansah drew parallels to past electoral setbacks and recoveries by the party.

“In 2000, we got only 39.3% in Wulensi but flipped it in a bye-election in 2003, leveraging our goodwill and incumbency advantage. Our people should not be hard on themselves. We shall get back,” he said.

According to the Electoral Commission, Bediako secured victory with 18,199 votes out of the total valid votes cast. His closest contender, Kwame Asumadu of the NPP polled 15,235 votes, while Owusu Patrick of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) managed just 82 votes.

In total, 33,819 ballots were deemed valid, with 303 rejected.
