Nduom was wrong on all levels -Sports Station pundits

Chief Executive Officer of The BAC Group Ernest Koranteng and Sports analyst Michael Oti Adjei have strongly criticized Elmina Sharks owner Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom over his recent comments on football in Ghana.

This comes after the former CPP flagbearer made remarks following an alleged assault on a referee during a Division One League match involving his team.

Speaking on TV3, Koranteng expressed disappointment in Dr. Nduom’s timing and approach in addressing issues within Ghana football.

“I cringed when I saw the quote cards. Look at the occasion he chooses to go at the FA. The FA is made up of the clubs, and I think Papa Kwesi Nduom got it all wrong. The impunity with which we make such statements when incidents like this occur is disappointing. The timing is awful, after such a barbaric act, and yet, instead of calming things down, he goes after the referee. Saying he is in football not to make money is a warped mentality. This issue of hooliganism is systemic, but his timing on this matter is completely misplaced,” he stated.

Sports analyst Michael Oti Adjei also had his take on the issue and said: “The most disappointing part was his interview on GTV, this is about the millionth time I’ve heard Nduom say he wants to leave football. Sometimes, it feels like people act as if we’re begging them to stay in the game. There’s a pattern where certain football stakeholders hold the sport hostage, and in that interview, he was just blaming the FA the entire time.

I have to ask this when did Nduom become Ghana football’s human VAR? Confronting the referee over his decision was completely inappropriate, and the next moment, he’s on Facebook ranting. He should have been the leading voice in calming things down. We always have legitimate concerns to raise with the FA, but this was not one of those moments.”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally charged Dr. Nduom with alleged misconduct following the incident during Elmina Sharks’ Division One League clash against Swedru All Blacks at the Dr. Nduom Sports Complex.

The GFA alleges that Dr. Nduom incited players, team officials, and supporters against the referees, with reports indicating that he used social media to escalate tensions, urging club officials and fans to confront match officials.

Dr. Nduom has until February 19, 2025, to respond to the charges.
